Professional Appearance Policy
-
Studio 417 Salon's professional reputation is maintained, in part, by the image our team members present to our clients and to their peers. Therefore, it is essential all team members observe job appropriate habits of dress, grooming, and personal hygiene at all times in accordance with the guidelines outlined in this policy.
Team members are expected to exercise their best judgment and common sense when determining their attire and appearance. When in doubt, team members should check with their supervisor or the Manager.
-
Appropriate casual attire consists of clothing which is neat, clean and in good taste. Team members are required to wear black attire and may wear colored accessories. Tennis shoes are allowed if they are fashionable and clean.
All hourly employees (front desk, assistants, etc.) are required to wear all black clothing and shoes.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Unacceptable attire includes, but is not limited to:
Jean shorts, cut-offs
Miniskirts (shorter than two inches above the kneecap)
Torn, frayed, wrinkled, or stained clothing
Bare midriffs or sheer clothing
T-shirts or sweatshirts with logos (except approved Salon logos)
Flip flops, thong or beach sandals (sandals must have a back per laws)
Crocs™, or similar plastic footwear
Athletic wear, workout clothes, sweat suits
Yoga or sweat pants
-
Team members shall maintain a neat, clean, fashionable, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
Hair must be clean, combed, on-trend, and neatly styled or trimmed. Shaggy, unkempt hair is not permissible, regardless of length or style. This includes beards and mustaches.
Makeup should be professional and nails must be well manicured and polished if they are stained.
Dresses/skirts that are too short, clothing that is too tight, tops that are cut too low or show cleavage and clothing that is transparent are not acceptable.
Any personal grooming practices which draw unfavorable comments, or cause discomfort/safety hazards are unacceptable.
Natural and artificial scents should be avoided.
Chewing gum is prohibited.
Clothing should be neat, clean, in good condition, and appropriate for the environment.
Body piercings must be minimal (up to one facial piercing and up to two small ear piercings are allowed).
Discreet, non-offensive tattoos are permissible. However, employees may be asked to cover tattoos when necessary for business reasons.
A key component in the Professional Appearance Policy is the use of common sense and good judgment. If team members question the appropriateness of the attire, it probably isn't appropriate.
-
Studio 417 Salon reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to determine what constitutes job appropriate attire or appearance.
Enforcement of this policy is the responsibility of Studio 417 Salon management team members. Team members who fail to meet the standards of this policy may be sent home to correct their appearance. Team members who fail to meet the standards of this policy may be subject to corrective action, up to and including termination of employment.
